Romania. – Reporter and sports photojournalist Malina Maria Guler, 27, died after falling from the seventh floor of the apartment she was renting in the city of Oradea, in northwestern Romania. The death has generated consternation in the sports and journalistic field of the country.
According to People magazine, Guler worked closely with various football teams, including UTA Arad and Bihor Oradea Football Club, documenting matches and key moments from the field. It was precisely this last organization that publicly confirmed his death through a Facebook post, shared on Saturday, December 20th.
“FC Bihor Oradea expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Malina Maria Guler,” the club stated in its statement. “Malina was with the club in the 2023-2024 season, a season in which FC Bihor Oradea achieved promotion to the Second League, contributing with professionalism and dedication to capture the moments and emotions of this sporting journey.”
In addition to her work in professional football, Malina Maria Guler stood out as a freelance photographer, covering concerts, local events, and everyday scenes of her city. Her work allowed her to build a solid digital community, with more than 40 thousand followers on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, where she shared images full of sensitivity and visual narrative.
The death of the young reporter has caused numerous expressions of grief from colleagues, athletes, and followers, who have highlighted her talent, commitment, and passion for visual journalism. The authorities have not offered further details about the circumstances of the event.
