Los Angeles.- Actress Catherine O’Hara, who passed away on January 30 at the age of 71, died after suffering a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer as an underlying disease, according to a death certificate from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, obtained by People magazine. Her representative confirmed the death of the ‘Home Alone’ actress at the end of January at her home in Los Angeles, adding that it occurred “after a brief illness,” although no further details have been provided so far. O’Hara is remembered for having played Kate McCallister, Kevin’s mother, played by Macaulay Culkin, in the Christmas comedy ‘Home Alone’ in the 90s, but her career began on television with the comedy series ‘SCTV Network’.

Her participation in that series earned her her first Emmy. The second one she would win in 2020 thanks to her participation in the series ‘Schitt’s Creek’, where she played the eccentric and dramatic matriarch of the Rose family, Moira Rose.
