Santo Domingo. — The Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, proposed the creation of a great national pact that brings together the State, the private sector, churches, families, educational centers, and social organizations to address the root causes of violence and criminality in the country.
The initiative was presented during a conference on violence and criminality, where the head of the Public Ministry maintained that the response to the problem should not focus solely on the prosecution of crimes, but also on prevention and the reduction of social and economic factors that favor delinquency.
Reynoso explained that the so-called State Pact for Coexistence seeks to strengthen public policies aimed at education, family integration, and the generation of opportunities for the most vulnerable sectors, with the purpose of fostering a culture of peace and respect.
The magistrate pointed out that the effort requires the joint commitment of public institutions, communities, churches, the business sector, and civil society to develop coordinated strategies that contribute to reducing levels of violence.
Likewise, he considered it necessary to promote a new model of social cooperation based on equity, inclusion, and the strengthening of democratic institutions, promoting citizen participation in the construction of long-term solutions.

The attorney general maintained that addressing the structural causes of violence will allow for the reduction of risk factors and the prevention of recidivism, especially in communities where the lack of opportunities increases vulnerability to crime.
During the activity, Reynoso also received recognition for her career and management at the head of the Public Ministry. The La Vega City Council declared her a Distinguished Visitor, while the Vega Real Cooperative presented her with a plaque of recognition for her institutional work.
