Caracas.- The death toll from the double earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that occurred three weeks ago in the northern area of Venezuela rose this Wednesday to 4,829, after authorities added 95 deaths, reported the president of the National Assembly (AN, Parliament), Jorge Rodríguez.
The number of injured remains at 16,740 and the number of people left homeless at 17,907, according to the report released on the Telegram account of the brother of the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez.
Likewise, there are 20,857 people in 106 transitional camps, one less than reported this Tuesday, according to this new balance.
Since the earthquakes occurred on June 24th, there have been 1,284 aftershocks. The most recent one felt by the population had a magnitude of 3.9 and occurred last Friday in Naiguatá, La Guaira state, the region most affected by the tremors.
The need for housing after the earthquakes in Venezuela
The Government reported over the weekend on the start of a biometric census to determine how many homes are needed, although it estimates there could be 25,000.
