Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic opened its medal count this Saturday at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, thanks to the outstanding performance of Carlos Rodríguez and Ignacio Vásquez, who won the silver medal in the sport of rowing.
The Dominican duo reached the podium in the men’s lightweight double sculls (LM2X) event, held at the Rincón Dam Rowing and Canoeing Center, after completing the course with a time of 6:56.21.
The gold medal was won by Venezuelans José Guipe and César Amaris, who dominated the final with a time of 6:48.30, while the bronze went to Mexicans Rafael Mejía and Roberto Ahumada.
With this result, the Dominican Republic adds its first medal in the regional multi-sport event, which brings together athletes from different countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

In the overall medal table, Mexico occupies the first position with one gold medal, one silver, and one bronze; Venezuela has accumulated one gold and one silver; Cuba records one gold and one bronze; the Dominican Republic has one silver medal, while Trinidad and Tobago appears with one bronze.
