Santo Domingo. – Dominican journalist and communicator Estefany Collado makes her literary debut with “Las cartas que debí escribir: relatos de mujeres para leer justo antes de elegir(se)” (The letters I should have written: stories by women to read just before choosing yourself). This work presents a series of intimate stories inspired by real experiences, but narrated through fiction, addressing key themes such as self-esteem, human relationships, self-love, loss, and the decisions that have the power to transform a life.

Through deeply intimate stories, the book explores love, loss, self-esteem, and those silences that force us to choose a new path. Although its protagonists are women, its pages contain universal truths: an invitation to listen to ourselves that will resonate in the heart of any reader.

About the author

Born in 1988 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She studied Journalism and Communication and, for years, wrote for others: she conceived ideas, organized messages, and provided words where they were needed, even when they were not her own. This, her first book of short stories, was written from the certainty that not all decisions are made out loud and that some stories are only understood when they become one’s own.

Believes in writing as a form of order, companionship, and pause, and lives with the habit of jotting down loose phrases, returning to what was left unsaid, and thinking that choosing (oneself) is not always a grand gesture; sometimes, it is merely an internal movement.
