The performances are scheduled from March 27 to 29, in the Máximo Avilés Blonda Hall of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, on Friday at 8:30 p.m., Saturday at 8:30 p.m., and Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
The staging features performances by Cindy Galán, Johanna González, Nileny Dippton, and Pepe Sierra, who bring to life this powerful stage ritual that explores the tensions of power, oppression, and decadence of a society that is crumbling.
Written in 1946, while Genet was in prison, the play returns to the Dominican stages with a contemporary proposal that places “The Maids” in the house of an incarcerated drug trafficker and his wife, a renowned diva of national television.
The idolization that the maids feel for their mistress, the weariness of the job, the mistreatment, the accumulated violence, what they have experienced… and the circumstances of their master’s imprisonment, lead them to an intense game of simulation, fantasy, where ambition and envy intertwine, until they scheme and delude themselves into definitively being the mistress.

In 1996, the country witnessed an emblematic staging directed by Ramón Pareja, with performances by Carlota Carretero, María Castillo, and Milagros Germán, marking a milestone in the national scene. Thirty years later, “The Maids” returns to the stage to reaffirm itself as one of the best texts in universal theater and to reconnect with a new generation of spectators in this new version.
With the premiere of “The Maids” the celebration of the Company’s 80th Anniversary begins, which will continue with various performances of the current repertoire, in different venues across the country. Tickets have a symbolic price of 200 pesos, available at the box office of this theater.
