Jarabacoa. — The executives of the Luxury Room and pre-candidates of the People’s Force, lawyers Fernando Núñez and Eddy Durán, along with doctor Rafael Abreu, representing that political organization in the municipality of Jarabacoa, denounced on Wednesday afternoon that school graduation activities scheduled in said establishment had been prohibited by the Educational District 06-03.
During a meeting with the press, the complainants stated that the measure affects both the students’ parents and the young people who had already organized their graduation ceremonies in the aforementioned event hall. According to them, behind the decision would be educational district authorities and some teachers.
Fernando Núñez stated that Christian churches had previously held activities and events from other educational centers at the Sala Luxury facilities, affirming that alcoholic beverages were not sold on any of those occasions.
Likewise, he maintained that the establishment functions as an event hall and not as a nightclub, as it had allegedly been described.
For his part, Eddy Durán considered that the situation responds to a “persecution” and to political motivations to prevent, according to him, the social contribution they intended to make in favor of the students who will graduate in the coming days.
So far, the authorities of Educational District 06-03 have not issued an official position on these statements.
