Three family members die in tragic traffic accident in Azua

Water. – A fatal traffic accident that occurred on Thursday night at the Los Jovillos curve, Azua province, left three people dead and two injured, according to authorities.

The fatalities were identified as Mariano Antonio Céspedes, 65 years old; his wife Mercedes Luisa Figuereo, 63; and their daughter Marianny Céspedes Figuereo, 42, who died at the scene due to the magnitude of the impact.

According to preliminary reports, the vehicle in which the family was traveling, driven by Francisco Antonio Céspedes, son of the deceased couple, collided with another car that was driven by Fabio Pimentel, 33 years old, a resident of Project 2-C.

Both drivers were injured and were rushed to the Taiwan Regional Hospital of Azua, where they are receiving medical attention. Their health condition is reported as stable, although they remain under observation.

It was reported that the family was heading to the hospital to transport Mr. Mariano Céspedes, who was experiencing health problems, when the tragic event occurred.

The accident has plunged the D-1 Ganadero community into deep mourning, where the deceased were from. Neighbors and relatives described the family as hardworking, united, and highly respected in the area.

Authorities from the General Directorate of Traffic and Ground Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) are investigating the circumstances that caused the collision on that section of the road, while the bodies were transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.

The tragedy has caused great consternation throughout the province of Azua, where citizens have offered prayers for the eternal rest of the deceased and the speedy recovery of the injured.
