Santiago.- The judge of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the Judicial District of Santiago, Estefany Santiago, imposed three months of preventive detention this Wednesday on two of the three brothers accused of murdering delivery driver Joel Heredia, 24, with a stab wound to the neck during an incident that occurred at a food establishment in the Hato Mayor sector of this city
The magistrate ordered the transfer of Eudis Martínez Henríquez, alias “El Pana”, 21, and Anneudy Rafael Cabrera Henríquez, alias “Cocote”, 19, to the Rafey Men’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), while the Public Prosecutor’s Office concludes the investigation of the case.
According to the indictment, both, along with a 16-year-old teenager, allegedly participated in the attack that ended in the death of the young delivery worker. The minor was processed separately in the Juvenile Court and subsequently released, so his identity remains protected by legal provision.

While offering statements after the hearing, defense attorney Francisco Familia explained that the court justified the pretrial detention because it is an ongoing investigation and to ensure the protection of witnesses.
However, the jurist maintained that the defense disagrees with the decision and stated that there are aspects of the facts that, in his view, have not been publicly exposed.
He alleged that the victim was allegedly carrying a bladed weapon at the time of the incident and asserted that one of the defendants, Anneudy Cabrera, did not have direct participation in the fatal assault, for which he stated they will await the full decision to determine whether they will file an appeal.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office maintains the charges against the accused for their alleged responsibility in the homicide of Joel Heredia, a case that has generated great attention in Santiago and that will continue under investigation during the period of the coercive measure.
