Santo Domingo.– A National District court imposed three months of preventive detention, as a coercive measure, on a man charged with the death of a young man in the San Carlos sector, during an incident that occurred on the afternoon of July 26, 2026.
Yeudi Miguel Hernández Rodríguez (Yeo) will serve the coercive measure at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) Las Parras, located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra.
In accordance with the request submitted by the public prosecutor Topacio Suero Sierra, assigned to the Department of Crimes and Offenses against the Person (Homicides) of the National District Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 in the afternoon, when the defendant, Yeudi Miguel Hernández Rodríguez (Yeo), killed Yeuri Rodríguez Batista.
The file states that, while the victim was with another person in the vicinity of Mella Street, in San Carlos, the defendant, who was traveling on a black Boxer motorcycle, approached and, carrying a firearm, demanded that he hand over the chain he was wearing.
After Rodríguez Batista handed him the garment, a struggle ensued during which the defendant fired several shots at him, causing the wounds that subsequently led to his death.

After committing the act, the individual fled on the motorcycle. The authorities established that the attacker traveled from San Carlos to the Eastern zone and, subsequently, to the María Trinidad Sánchez province.
As part of the investigation, agents from the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) obtained information that allowed them to establish that the motorcycle used in the incident had been moved to the Payita section, in the Arroyo Salado municipal district, in the municipality of Cabrera, María Trinidad Sánchez province, where it was recovered.

During the investigations in that same province, the authorities also found buried in the municipality of Nagua the firearm allegedly used to commit the crime: a Glock brand pistol, model 19, 9-millimeter caliber, with two magazines.
The defendant Hernández Rodríguez was arrested on August 5, 2026, by virtue of a judicial warrant issued by the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has granted the case the provisional legal classification of violation of articles 265, 266, 296, 297, 379, and 382 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as articles 66, paragraph II, and 67 of Law No. 631-16 for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.
Judge Fátima Veloz, of the Permanent Attention Court of the National District, imposed the coercive measure and set the mandatory review for November 5, 2026.
