The world of film and television is in mourning following the confirmation of the death of Tom Chadbon, a British actor recognized for his roles in successful productions such as Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Peep Show and the James Bond film Casino Royale.
The performer passed away at the age of 80, as reported by Fantom Films, an organization linked to Doctor Who events, where Chadbon regularly participated to share with fans of the franchise.
Through social media, the entity mourned his passing and highlighted his legacy in the audiovisual industry.
“Tom was a familiar face to many for his numerous television and film credits. He was always a warm and kind man to work with,” noted Fantom Films.
An extensive career in film and television
One of Chadbon’s most remembered roles was that of Duggan in Doctor Who, a character he played in the serial City of Death (1979), alongside Tom Baker. Years later, he returned to the popular series to bring to life Merdeen in The Trial of a Time Lord, broadcast in 1986.

On television, he also participated in the comedy Peep Show, where he played Martin, the partner of Jeremy’s mother. His last appearance on the small screen was in the seventh season of Game of Thrones, where he portrayed the High Septon Maynard.
