Santo Domingo – On the night of December 25th, a family celebration turned into a tragedy for Ángela Isabel Delgado Piña, mother of Elvin and Erwin Sadel Urbáez Delgado, who were victims of a violent event that shocked the community.

Elvin Sadel, 19, was sharing with friends at a party when a young man tried to snatch a chain from him. During the struggle, a shot was fired that ended his life immediately. His younger brother, Erwin Sadel, 18, tried to defend him and was also seriously injured, remaining hospitalized in critical condition.

The family had decided to postpone the Christmas Eve dinner from the 24th to the 25th, due to work commitments of Ángela, who works in the professional food supply service. That night, the house was filled with joy and unity, without imagining that hours later violence would burst into their home.

Local authorities are investigating the incident while the community of La Caleta unites in solidarity with the family, whose pain has moved neighbors and loved ones.
