“Trump demands lowering gas prices to $2.50 per gallon”

U.S. President Donald Trump demanded this Monday that gasoline sellers in the country immediately reduce prices for consumers, arguing that oil is trading at around 68 dollars per barrel and that current fuel prices are excessive.

In a post on the Truth Social network, Trump urged setting gasoline at around $2.50 per gallon and also asked California to reduce its fuel taxes, considering that these tax burdens are artificially raising the final price.

The president added that the barrel of gasoline reached its lowest price since February, when the war in the Middle East began.

According to recent energy market data in the United States, the national average price of gasoline is currently around 2.40 dollars per gallon with variations depending on the state and region, being higher on the west coast and lower in the south of the country.

During the period of greatest geopolitical tension linked to the war in the Middle East, the price exceeded 4 dollars, driven by the rise in oil prices and uncertainty regarding global supply, especially after temporary disruptions in strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

On June 21st, Iran and the United States agreed on a 60-day roadmap to reach a nuclear deal and lasting peace following a memorandum of understanding that established a ceasefire after more than 100 days of war and allowed for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
