Santo Domingo.– Agents from the Cyber Police Area Directorate, a branch of the Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim), arrested two people who were wanted by the justice system for their alleged participation in electronic fraud cases that occurred in different provinces of the country.
The operations were carried out simultaneously in Puerto Plata and Santiago, where Daneisi González González, 19, and Ángel Bladimir Jacquenet Martínez Pérez were arrested in compliance with arrest warrants issued by competent courts.
According to the investigations, González González is listed as one of the individuals under investigation after receiving the sum of RD$42,000 in a bank account, an amount that was allegedly obtained through a supposed scam related to the fraudulent offer of a bedroom set advertised on the TikTok platform.
The authorities explained that the case originated after a victim reported having made the payment for the furniture without receiving the product, which led to an investigation that allowed tracking the destination of the money and identifying the young woman.

Meanwhile, Martínez Pérez was arrested due to a separate investigation linked to technological crimes. So far, the Police have not revealed further details about that file so as not to affect the course of the investigations.
The Cyber Police reported that both detainees were placed in the custody of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the agency that will continue with the corresponding judicial process and the proceedings to establish if there are more people involved in these events.
The authorities reiterated the call to the public to verify the authenticity of the offers circulating on social networks and digital platforms before making transfers or deposits, in order to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of electronic fraud.
