Santo Domingo.- APEC University (UNAPEC), the René del Risco Bermúdez Foundation, and Mar de Palabras signed a Framework Collaboration Agreement that establishes the foundations for inter-institutional cooperation aimed at the development of academic, cultural, and educational projects, with a special emphasis on literature, the arts, communication, creativity, and cultural tourism.
n” “nDuring the event, the rector of APEC University, Master Erik Pérez Vega, expressed the institution’s interest in becoming a permanent venue for high-impact cultural initiatives and highlighted that this agreement represents the beginning of a new stage of collaboration to promote culture and make the institutional motto of “Educating for a better world” a reality.
n” “n“We want Unapec to host some of your events. We are going to seal the beginning of this great alliance to promote culture, because education also includes the dissemination of our native culture”, stated the rector, while highlighting the need to create, foster, preserve, and massify culture as an essential element for the development of Dominican society.
n” “nPérez Vega recalled that education and culture have been part of the APEC Group’s DNA since its origins six decades ago. He pointed out that, although the university has achieved significant progress in the academic field, it continues to commit to further strengthening its cultural dimension. In that sense, he valued the convening power and experience of the allied entities, as well as the work developed by APEC Cultural, which is composed of prominent personalities and intellectuals of the country.

The rector assured that the combination of Unapec’s infrastructure, the work of APEC Cultural, and the leadership of the Mar de Palabras team will allow for opening new horizons to promote a broader, more inclusive, and sustainable culture over time. “Culture must be popularized, nurtured, maintained, developed, and made to evolve,” he emphasized.
For her part, the president of the René del Risco Bermúdez Foundation, Minerva del Risco, highlighted the value of strategic alliances as tools to build projects that respond to the country’s cultural needs.
n” “n“From experience, I understand that this is what alliances are for and the good thing about alliances, to create these types of things and be able to do what this country needs: a lot of culture”, he expressed, thanking Unapec for opening the doors to an initiative that he described as being of great importance to the institution he represents.

n” “nMeanwhile, the executive director of Mar de Palabras, Yulissa Álvarez Caro, highlighted the intellectual and cultural wealth existing in the country and stated that the goal of the alliance is to join efforts to bring together those who share the vision of strengthening citizenship through culture and knowledge.
n” “nÁlvarez Caro indicated that Mar de Palabras will put its convening power at the service of common goals, with the intention of developing a permanent program that transcends the holding of an annual event and becomes an engine of cultural and academic transformation, involving the student body, the faculty, and other institutions committed to these same purposes.
n” “nThrough this collaboration, the institutions will join forces to strengthen the country’s cultural, academic, and creative development, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the cultural projection of Santo Domingo as a meeting space for ideas, the arts, and comprehensive training.
