Santo Domingo.– The Dr. Vinicio Calventi General Hospital has initiated efforts to establish a cooperation alliance with medical institutions in Israel, with the purpose of strengthening the training of medical specialists and improving the preparedness of healthcare personnel in areas of emergency and disaster management.
The initiative was addressed during a meeting between the director of the health center, José Alfredo Alfaro Pla, and the Israeli ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Raslan Abu Rukun, in which both parties evaluated possible collaboration mechanisms.
Among the proposals is the creation of an agreement with a hospital in Tel Aviv to promote medical residency programs in the specialties of Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Disaster Management, in addition to promoting the exchange of experiences between professionals from both countries.
Alfaro highlighted that Israel has extensive experience in emergency response and the operation of field hospitals, knowledge that, in his view, could contribute to strengthening the response capacity of Dominican medical personnel.

As part of the conversations, the Israeli ambassador expressed his willingness to visit the Vinicio Calventi Hospital and to arrange, during the coming month of August, meetings with two hospitals in Tel Aviv to advance academic and medical cooperation projects.

The proposal also contemplates holding conferences, courses, and training workshops aimed at healthcare personnel, with an emphasis on emergency care, critical care, and disaster response.
If finalized, this would be the first formal collaboration between the Dr. Vinicio Calventi Hospital and an institution linked to the State of Israel, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the academic, scientific, and healthcare development of the hospital center.
