Santo Domingo.- The Varias Luces and Futuro Voleibol Club clubs took home the top honors this weekend at the youth tournament of the National District Volleyball Association (Asovodina).
In the men’s division, Club Varias Luces reached first place after defeating the National District Development Program 2-1 (17-25, 25-20 and 15-13).
The third step corresponded to the Club María Auxiliadora team after defeating the second team of the National District Development Program 2-1 (17-25, 25-22 and 15-11).
On the other hand, in the women’s category, the Futuro Voleibol Club team won their third consecutive title in this tournament after defeating Club Varias Luces 3 sets to 1 (25-10, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-18).
The third place went to Club Naco after defeating the Cachorros de Cristo Rey team 2-0 (25-22 and 25-13).
“Nos sentimos altamente agradecidos con Dios y cada uno de los equipos que participaron en nuestro torneo juvenil, quedando demostrado que tenemos un gran relevo en esta disciplina ya que pudimos ver muchos jóvenes que tienen grandes potenciales para ser selecciones nacionales”,
expresó Ángel Rivas, presidente de la Asovodina.
The tournament brought together 36 teams and took place on the open volleyball courts of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
The outstanding players of the tournament were Joan Hidalgo and Marialys Gerónimo.
Among the participating clubs were: Club Ajapro, Azulito, Varias Luces, Claret, Naco, Los Cachorros, Arroyo Hondo, Alice, María Auxiliadora, San Pedro, among others.
