Various sectors support measures adopted in the Senasa case

Civil society sectors and political leaders support the actions taken, with the call for all those involved to face the corresponding consequences. Santo Domingo.- Various actors from civil society and the political sphere expressed their support for the actions undertaken by the Public Ministry, aimed at continuing the investigation process related to the complaints of irregularities in the National Health Insurance (Senasa). The operation launched this weekend was well received, highlighting the importance of those involved, both from the public and private sectors, facing the corresponding consequences. Among the pronouncements are those of the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep), the National Council of Commerce in Provisions (CNCP), the Association of Merchants and Industrials (ACIS), the Association of Industrials of the Northern Region (Airen), as well as Carlos Pimentel, director of Public Contracting; Milagros Ortiz Bosch, general director of Ethics and Governmental Integrity; and Rafael Núñez, journalist, writer and political strategist. President Luis Abinader recalled that from the beginning of his administration he made a firm commitment to transparency and the protection of public patrimony.

He explained that, upon receiving information that generated suspicions regarding Senasa, he immediately ordered an internal investigation to clarify the facts. The process, as detailed, confirmed the existence of serious indications of possible acts of corruption, which is why the report was promptly sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for it to proceed in accordance with the law. He also instructed that Senasa be constituted as a civil actor in order to recover the resources that have been withdrawn. The president concluded by reiterating that his government will maintain a firm stance of vigilance, prevention, and sanction, ensuring that every sign of corruption is investigated and every person responsible is subject to the law.
