Bogota.– Colombian authorities continue to investigate an alleged case of child abuse involving a U.S. citizen, arrested last weekend in the north of Bogota following a report made by residents of a residential complex.
According to preliminary information, the foreigner was captured by agents of the Childhood and Adolescence Police after neighbors alerted them to a suspicious situation in a temporarily rented apartment. Following the intervention of the authorities, three minors, aged 4, 7, and 15, were placed under the protection of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF).
Colombian media subsequently revealed that the foreign citizen allegedly had legal custody of the children through an adoption process, an aspect that is now part of the investigations being carried out by the competent authorities.

The minors were transferred to a medical center for physical and psychological evaluations, while specialized teams verify the restoration of their rights and determine if there were any situations of vulnerability or abuse.
Migración Colombia confirmed that the detainee entered the country as a tourist at the beginning of June. The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation took over the case and is carrying out the corresponding proceedings to clarify the facts and establish possible criminal responsibilities.
