Young man shot dead in front of the Courthouse in SFM

San Francisco de Macorís.- A tragic episode of violence shook the morning of this Tuesday in San Francisco de Macorís, when a young man identified as Luis Gustavo de Aza, known as “Nini”, was fatally shot outside the Palace of Justice of this city, right after leaving a hearing.

The attack, perpetrated in the middle of the street and in view of passersby, lawyers, and court staff, caused scenes of panic in the area. According to preliminary reports, the shots were directed directly at the victim, which reinforces the hypothesis that it was a planned attack.

Agents from the DICRIM and the Scientific Police immediately went to the scene, cordoning off the area and collecting evidence to find those responsible. So far, no arrests have been reported, nor have the possible motives behind the crime been disclosed.

De Aza’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for autopsy purposes, under the supervision of a forensic pathologist.

The authorities are keeping the investigation open to clarify the event and find the aggressors.
