Family members of young man shot dead demand the arrest of the alleged perpetrator

Santo Domingo.– Relatives of a young man who was shot in the chest last December asked authorities this Thursday to arrest the alleged perpetrator of the act, as well as a supposed accomplice involved in the event. According to the relatives’ version, the event originated while they were sharing at an alcoholic beverage center located on Penetración Oeste street, Luz Consuelo sector, of the National District, in the early hours of the morning. The victim was identified as Yonathan Alberto Aragonel Valdez, 35 years old. According to the complaint filed with the authorities, the family members point to José Francisco Báez as the alleged perpetrator of the shooting, who would have fled after committing the act.

The unfortunate event occurred in the presence of agents of the National Police, who, according to family members, witnessed a strong fight between several citizens who were throwing objects; however, they did not intervene to control the situation. In several videos circulating about the incident, the detonation of a shot can be heard, which mortally impacted the deceased. Relatives and friends of the victim reiterated their call to the authorities to proceed with the arrest of the alleged perpetrator and a young man identified only as “Yeferson”, whom they accuse of being the alleged owner of the firearm used in the crime.
