La Romana.— With a focus on sustainable tourism, economic development, investment, and sector growth, President Luis Abinader broke ground for the construction of the
Beach Club and inaugurated the
Tourist Pier of the Atoll on Catalina Island.
The landing stage is an infrastructure that facilitates the disembarkation of visitors so they can enjoy the natural beauties of the island, which will contribute to the diversification of Dominican tourism.

Boost to Tourism Investment
When speaking at the event, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted that thanks to the vision of President Luis Abinader the investment in that sector went from 70% foreign and 30% national to Dominicans being the ones leading the way in the new hotels being built in the country.
He said that if we bet on the diversification of the sector, we must plan as has been done with the development of Miches in the province of El Seibo, which was achieved in a possible time.
Collado expressed that many criticized the all-inclusive model of the Dominican Republic and pointed out that recently the first W Hotel of the Marriott International chain became all-inclusive and is already in the country.
Regarding high-end tourism, he stated that, as an example of significant investment, Casa de Campo built 64 new rooms, where the presidential suite reaches $14,000 per night and maintains full occupancy until April.
He announced that President Abinader created a commission to design a real nautical tourism strategy and highlighted the country’s presence at promotional fairs through public-private partnerships.
Port Infrastructure Development
From his side,
Jean Luis Rodríguez, director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), said that in the administration of President Luis Abinader, 22 docks have been delivered.
He reiterated the commitment to support the private sector in obtaining the necessary permits and to continue promoting public-private partnerships for the development of tourism in the country, and congratulated the investors for developing the area.
Meanwhile, Juan Tomás Díaz, representative of World2Meet, stated that the pier creates an exclusive space for those who visit the island and that the beach club will maintain actions to care for the environment and offer high-level gastronomy.
Bet on Sustainable Tourism
Meanwhile, Edwin Encarnación, owner of the Hilton Hotel in the area, thanked President Luis Abinader for his support for the development of tourism and stated that this support means a lot to his province.
Finally,
Tomeu Gili, from World2Meet, explained that with the beach club they are betting on a differentiating product with innovation and quality that will strengthen the destination.
He reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainable tourism, replicating the experience of the project in Saona Island, where all waste produced is transported to land, weighed, and recycled.
He indicated that they have a fleet of 50 electric vehicles for mobility and that they expect to introduce the same amount to reduce the pollution generated by transportation.
The president was accompanied by the Minister of Labor, Eddy Olivares; the directors of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodríguez; of Customs, Nelson Arroyo; and of the Tourist Police (Politur), Minoru Matsunaga, among other personalities.
