VIDEO: Cross involved in priest’s death reinstalled at Ecuador church as investigation continues

The cross that fell on Father Patricio Sánchez, killing him during a Mass in Guayaquil, Ecuador, has been reinstalled at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church as the Archdiocese awaits a technical report to determine the cause of the accident.
The incident occurred on October 17, when the cross detached from the altar and struck Sánchez as he delivered his homily during a live broadcast. Minutes before the accident, the priest had reflected on the brevity of life and the importance of dedicating time to God.
The Archdiocese confirmed the priest’s death and paid tribute to his vocation, dedication and impact on the local community. The technical report is expected to help clarify what caused the cross to fall.
