Santo Domingo.– The communicator Ángel Martínez will have to answer before a court of merits after being accused of alleged defamation and insult to the detriment of the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful.
The decision was adopted by the Third Instruction Court of the National District, after evaluating the elements presented during the preliminary phase of the judicial process. The court found that there is sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to the next stage, where the merits of the accusation will be examined and possible responsibilities will be determined. The process originates from indications made through digital media, which, according to the Public Ministry, would have affected the official’s reputation. The accusation is based on legal provisions related to crimes committed through the use of technologies, as contemplated in current regulations on electronic crimes.
