Blackouts intensify in Montecristi, PLD leaders denounce

They claim that the cost of electricity bills has increased by up to 30%
Montecristi.– Leaders of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) denounced that blackouts have intensified in the Montecristi province, despite the installation of the Energía 2000 plant, while questioning the increase recorded in electricity bills.
Alexander Rivas, provincial president of the PLD in Montecristi, stated that the implementation of the energy project has not translated into an improvement in service for the communities in the area.

“Certainly, the Energía 2000 plant is being built in Montecristi, but it is no less true that this plant has not benefited the province at all,” stated Rivas.
The political leader stated that there are currently power outages lasting between five and six hours, and cited cases of communities that, according to him, have remained without power for up to nine hours.
Rivas maintained that this situation has caused dissatisfaction among residents and assured that there have been protests and tire burning in demand for an improvement in the electricity supply.
For his part, Mayobanex Escoto, Organization Secretary of the PLD, denounced that, in addition to the interruptions, users are facing an increase in the cost of energy.
Escoto stated that electricity bills have increased between 30% and 35%, reaching up to 40% in some cases, even though Montecristi has a power generation plant in its vicinity.
The statements were offered during a press conference in which PLD leaders denounced deficiencies in various public services and demanded solutions from the Government for the problems affecting the province.
