Santo Domingo.– The director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez García, announced this Friday the launch of the “Conscience for Life, Holy Week 2026” operation, with the purpose of preventing incidents during the Holy Week holiday and preserving the lives of citizens who will travel to different parts of the country.
During a press conference led by the Minister of Interior and Police, the authorities informed that the operation will begin on Thursday, April 2nd at 2:00 PM and will extend until Sunday, April 5th at 6:00 PM.
Méndez García explained that the operation will focus on reducing events associated with drowning, traffic accidents, alcohol intoxication, and food poisoning, through preventive and rapid response actions.
“Holy Week is a time for reflection, family unity, and restraint to preserve lives,” expressed the official, while urging the population to act responsibly during the holiday.
He detailed that, along with the members of the 22 institutions that make up the organization, work is being done on the implementation of strategic measures to respond to any emergency that may arise during the displacement of citizens to the interior of the country.
In that sense, he indicated that during the operation, work will be coordinated with the COE links to prevent incidents related to drownings, traffic accidents, and alcohol and food poisoning.

“We are preparing to respond efficiently to the emergencies that the population may present during the enjoyment of Holy Week and in this way reduce the figures of incidents and fatalities from previous years,” said Méndez García.
More than 51 thousand collaborators will be deployed
The director of the civil protection agency announced that the device will be coordinated and executed by the COE with the participation of the ministries of the Presidency, Defense, Women, Interior and Police, Public Works, Environment, Tourism and Public Health, among other institutions.
For the development of the operation, the COE will have 51,232 collaborators, as well as extensive assistance and response logistics throughout the national territory.
For the development of the operation, the COE will have 51,232 collaborators, 637 ambulances, 27 boats, three helicopters, 47 OMSA buses, 327 immediate response units, 3,451 first aid stations, 57 crane stations, 25 mobile workshops, nine regional command centers, 25 centers for the location and care of lost children, and 27 road protection and assistance devices.
The authorities reiterated the call to citizens to follow the recommendations of civil protection agencies, respect traffic regulations, and avoid risky behaviors during the holiday.
