Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains a green alert for eight provinces of the country due to atmospheric conditions generated by the approach of a trough, which will favor the occurrence of moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts.
The Deputy Director of Information and Communication Management of the COE, José Luis Germán, reported that the National District, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, especially its northern part, Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, and Sánchez Ramírez are under this alert level.

Germán explained that alert levels could vary throughout this Friday, depending on weather conditions and the forecasts issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), the entity that determines when there is an increase or decrease in the threats associated with these phenomena.
Given this situation, the COE urged the population to remain attentive to official bulletins, avoid crossing rivers, streams, and creeks that have large volumes of water, and have the family emergency plan available to execute if necessary.

Indomet Forecast
During the morning hours, some downpours are expected over provinces of the Caribbean coastal littoral, associated with the incidence of a tropical wave. In the afternoon, this will interact with local conditions and daytime heating, favoring the development of downpours that could be moderate to heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional wind gusts.
Tomorrow, Saturday, the tropical wave will be moving out of our forecast area, leaving behind a moist and unstable atmosphere. In addition, the influence of a trough will favor the occurrence of downpours that could be locally moderate to heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional wind gusts, mainly towards sectors of the northeast, northwest, southwest, and the Central Mountain Range, especially during the afternoon hours.
