Santiago de los Caballeros.- The Central Intelligence Directorate (DINTEL) of the National Police reported the dismantling of an alleged criminal organization dedicated to international arms trafficking, following an operation carried out on the San Isidro highway, in the Santo Domingo Este municipality.
During the police intervention, several members of the alleged criminal network were arrested in flagrante delicto. In the operation, the authorities seized two rifles, two Glock pistols, and about 5,700 rounds of 5.56 and 9-millimeter caliber ammunition.
As part of the investigations, agents identified an alleged clandestine laboratory in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, which was supposedly used to assemble weapons and stamp serial numbers on so-called “ghost guns,” that is, weapons without identification or registration.

According to the report, these weapons were brought into the country hidden in food containers from the United States. Subsequently, through a raid on the premises, 11 pistols, nine pistol frames, two revolvers, 11 magazines, a bulletproof vest, four pistol slides, two shotgun trigger guards, three revolver cylinders, three rifle guides, and various machinery used for the stamping, modification, and assembly of weapons were seized.
The authorities continue to expand investigations to determine the scope of this alleged organization’s operations and establish possible links with other criminal structures
