Experts and authorities meet to promote strategies that consolidate HEIs at the national and international level.
Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCyT) held the Forum on Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), a key event to strengthen the quality and competitiveness of Dominican education in the global arena. The initiative seeks to identify opportunities, promote the exchange of good practices, and consolidate the international projection of the country’s universities.
The head of MESCyT, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, highlighted that the forum aimed to socialize internationalization strategies implemented by HEIs to strengthen educational quality, competitiveness, and global reciprocity.
García Fermín indicated that 170 priority curricula have been redesigned with a competency-based approach and that recently the National Council of Higher Education, Science and Technology (CONESCyT) approved a new framework for teacher training, consolidating the advances in educational planning.

afirmó García Fermín.
Through panels with experts, the Forum addressed key issues: Critical analysis of internationalization: Demystifying concepts and guiding policies and practices in Dominican HEIs. Governance as a pillar: Evaluating leadership, management, and decision-making to improve educational quality. Academic mobility: Integrating intercultural approaches and global competencies into curricula.
International cooperation: Strengthen networks, mobility programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration with equity and sustainability. Regional context: Position Dominican HEIs within the dynamics of Latin America and the Caribbean. Local experiences: Showcase progress of the program República Dominicana is an Academic Destination to promote mobility.
