Santo Domingo.- The RD Vial Trust announced the launch of 511, a single and easy-to-remember number for drivers to report emergencies and incidents on the country’s main roads. This innovation seeks to guarantee greater safety and a faster and more efficient response, aligned with international standards.
The 511 replaces 829-688-1000 as the official contact channel for the Integrated Road Assistance Service, operated by the Military and Police Commission (COMIPOL). From this number, users can request immediate assistance in case of breakdowns, accidents or other risk situations on the national road network.
The new service is part of the North American Numbering Plan (NANP), of which the Dominican Republic is a part, thus joining the model implemented in countries such as the United States and Canada. In this way, the country adopts an international standard that improves accessibility to roadside assistance and modernizes the experience of drivers. You can also read: The deployment of 511 is part of a process of continuous strengthening of the Integrated Road Assistance Service, which is in the process of expansion with the progressive incorporation of more than 200 new mobile units delivered to COMIPOL. This expansion, which includes cranes, ambulances, vans, mobile workshops and motorcycles, is designed to multiply the installed capacity of the service, reduce response times and raise the standards of care on the country’s roads.

“Con la puesta en marcha del 511 estamos multiplicando la capacidad instalada del Servicio Integrado de Asistencia Vial, lo que representa una inversión directa en seguridad y tranquilidad para los ciudadanos. Esta herramienta refuerza nuestro compromiso de ofrecer una respuesta más rápida y eficiente, alineada con las mejores prácticas internacionales en materia de seguridad vial”,

afirmó Hostos Rizik Lugo, director ejecutivo de RD Vial.
This change has been made possible thanks to an initiative by the RD Vial Trust and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), which had the collaboration and approval of the INDOTEL Board of Directors to authorize the designation of 511 as the Basic Special Service number. With this measure, the Dominican Republic adopts an international standard of roadside assistance, strengthening road safety and facilitating more modern and efficient access to the Integrated Road Assistance Service.
