Moca, Espaillat province.– A couple lost their lives instantly after receiving an electric shock while carrying out construction work in the community of Guausi, municipality of Moca, in an event that has generated deep consternation both in the accident area and in their place of residence, in Santiago.

According to preliminary information, the tragedy occurred when the couple was handling a steel rod that accidentally made contact with a high-voltage cable, causing a fatal electric shock. A coworker who witnessed the event reported that everything happened in a matter of seconds, generating panic among those present, without it being possible to provide assistance to the victims. The fact was even more heartbreaking when it was confirmed that the two minor children of the couple were at the construction site and witnessed the death of their parents. Emergency units, members of the National Police, and representatives of the Public Ministry attended the scene.Prosecutor Fernando Martínez led the removal of the bodies and arranged for special attention for the minors, who were placed under temporary custody of the authorities to guarantee their physical and psychological protection. The coroner certified that the cause of death was electrocution and ordered the transfer of the bodies for the corresponding legal procedures, prior to their delivery to the families in Santiago. The community of Los Solares is shocked by the loss of the young couple, described by neighbors as hardworking and dedicated to their family. Meanwhile, the authorities of the child, adolescent protection system are evaluating the situation to define the definitive guardianship of the minors, who were orphaned after the tragic event.
