Hato Mayor.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) reported that it reached the delivery of one million new identity and electoral cards, 51 days after having started the national renewal process of the document on April 12.
The milestone was reached this Tuesday in the Hato Mayor province, where citizen Starlin Josías Castillo Rosa became the one-millionth person to receive the new ID card, during a ceremony held at the identification center of that municipality.
The delivery was led by the titular member of the JCE Plenary and coordinator of the East zone, Hirayda Marcell Fernández, who highlighted the importance of the achievement reached by the institution in little more than seven weeks since the process began.
“It is a true source of pride and honor for us that this milestone has been achieved here in Hato Mayor,” expressed Fernández upon formally delivering the new document to the citizen.

The representative of the electoral body congratulated both Castillo Rosa and the staff of the identification center for the work done to ensure the efficiency of the process.

For his part, the beneficiary expressed his satisfaction with the renewal of his identity document and urged citizens to carry out the ID card change during their birth month, highlighting the speed, organization, and transparency observed during the process.
Likewise, he valued the performance of the staff at the Hato Mayor office and expressed his wish that this level of service quality be maintained in all identification centers across the country.
The JCE reported that, by the end of this Tuesday afternoon, the number of new ID cards issued both in the national territory and abroad amounted to 1,014,835 documents, widely exceeding one million renewals.

Among the provinces with the highest number of ID cards delivered are Santo Domingo, with 194,181; National District, with 148,089; Santiago, with 101,503; San Cristóbal, with 58,518; and La Vega, with 41,234 documents distributed.
Duarte, La Altagracia, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, and La Romana also stand out among the provinces with the highest levels of renewal.
Internationally, the institution indicated that since the start of the issuance of the new ID card abroad on May 20, 18,736 documents have been distributed to Dominican citizens residing outside the country.
The JCE reiterated its call to the population to continue visiting the enabled centers and complete the renewal process for the identity document, which is considered fundamental for the exercise of civil and electoral rights.
