Santo Domingo. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) reported that it has surpassed two million identity and electoral cards issued under the new format, three months after the start of the document renewal process.
According to the institution, to date 2,001,006 identity cards have been issued. Of that total, 1,004,502 correspond to women and 996,504 to men.
The identification card number two million was received by citizen Ana María Mejía Mercedes de Cedeño at an identification center in the La Romana province, a demarcation where 64,604 documents have already been issued, of which 50,759 were delivered in the head municipality.
The president of the JCE, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, called on citizens who still hold the previous document to go to the identification centers to complete the renewal process and avoid setbacks.
The entity’s statistics reflect that people between 31 and 35 years old constitute the group with the highest number of renewals, with 211,810 documents issued. They are followed by those between 36 and 40 years old, with 198,558, and the 26 to 30 age segment, with 191,293. Meanwhile, those over 70 years old account for 163,257 renewals.

By province, Santo Domingo records the highest number of ID cards issued, with 387,138, followed by the National District, with 283,298, and Santiago, with 200,452.
Abroad, the United States continues to account for the highest volume of renewals, with 39,662 documents issued, mainly in the cities of New York, New Jersey, Orlando, and Massachusetts. Other countries with the highest number of procedures include Spain, Italy, Panama, Canada, the Netherlands, Chile, and Switzerland.

The JCE reiterated that the ID renewal process continues to develop regularly at the centers enabled both in the national territory and at service offices abroad.
