SANTO DOMINGO,.– A court in the judicial district of San Juan de la Maguana sentenced a man found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and illegal possession of a firearm to 15 years in prison, for an event that occurred on July 4, 2021 in the Quijada Quieta sector of that city.
The sentence was handed down against José Augusto Abad García, alias “Jonathan”, after the court accepted the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which demonstrated his criminal responsibility in the death of Yorki de la Rosa, whom he shot four times.You may be interested in: Yemen’s Government and the Houthis will exchange 2,900 prisoners with UN backing
Abad García was convicted of violating articles 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as Law 631-16 on the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition and Related Materials, for carrying and illegal possession of a firearm. The accusation was based on the investigation carried out by prosecutor Vicente Rodríguez Sánchez and litigated in court by prosecutor Hernanda Arias, who presented expert, documentary, and testimonial evidence, fully accepted by the Collegiate Tribunal of San Juan de la Maguana. According to the record, the victim died while receiving medical attention at a health center in the city, according to autopsy No. INACIF R.S. A-129-2021. The sentence was issued by judges Diogenes Dámaso, Angélica Calderón and Edwardo Valdez, who ordered that the convicted person serve the sentence in the public prison of San Juan de la Maguana.
