Santo Domingo. – With a few minutes to spare before the legal deadline, the Public Ministry filed this Saturday in the Prosecutor’s Office of the National District its formal request for coercive measures against the brothers Antonio and Maribel Espaillat, owners of the Jet Set nightclub, for their alleged responsibility in the collapse of the establishment’s roof, which left a balance of 236 dead and at least 180 injured.
In the instance, signed by prosecutors Héctor García, Miguel Collado, and Enmanuel Ramírez, a 18-month preventive prison measure is requested for Antonio Espaillat, while house arrest is proposed for his sister Maribel.
The Prosecution also requested that the process be declared complex, due to the high number of fatalities, injuries, and complaints filed in the case.
