Las Mulas Community, in Las Matas de Farfán, cries out for help as main road collapses

San Juan. — Residents of the Las Mulas community, in the municipality of Las Matas de Farfán, denounce that the only access road to the town is practically impassable, leaving dozens of families out of communication, especially during the recent days of heavy rains. According to the community members, the situation poses a danger, as in cases of medical emergencies, patient transfers, or the need for ambulances to reach the location, it is impossible to access the area.

“We are trapped. If someone gets sick, they can’t leave, and the vehicles trying to enter are stranded. We’ve had to ask for help to get them out,” expressed those affected. The deterioration of the road and the lack of response from the authorities have generated great concern in the community, which has decided to unite to publicly highlight the problem and demand the immediate intervention of the competent authorities. Residents called on the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the local authorities of San Juan to take urgent measures to repair the road and ensure the safe transit of people and vehicles. “The only thing we ask is that, in an emergency, an ambulance can enter. Currently, not even that is possible,” they denounced. Las Mulas is a productive area, recognized for the production of cassava, bananas, corn, avocados and animal breeding, whose sale is carried out in the local market and at the Palan fair. However, the poor condition of the road prevents the transfer of production, directly affecting the economy and the livelihood of dozens of families. Residents also demanded that politicians not visit them only during election campaigns, recalling that road access is a right and not a favor. “We need facts, not promises,” they concluded.
