San Juan. – President Luis Abinader inaugurated the new Municipal Market of Las Matas de Farfán, a work awaited for 50 years, which seeks to transform the conditions of commercial exchange and guarantee higher quality products for the families of San Juan.
The work not only represents a modern physical space, but a tool of human dignity for merchants and a guarantee of health for consumers.
By uttering a few brief words, the first lady Raquel Arbaje pointed out that the work was done as a team to build the project and valued the importance of this infrastructure for the community.
From his side, the president of the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development, Ángel de la Cruz, indicated that the work was built with love and dedication, and that it has more than 66 cubicles and 23,000 square meters of construction. “The president has launched the fundamental works and has developed those that consolidate the country.”
The new municipal market has been designed under modern infrastructure standards, which include:
Specialized areas: differentiated spaces for meats, vegetables, grains, and various products, avoiding cross-contamination.
Hygiene system: facilities that facilitate daily cleaning and proper handling of solid waste.
Safety and comfort: wide corridors, adequate lighting, and drainage systems that eliminate overcrowding and the precariousness of previous facilities.
A vision of integral development
The delivery of this market adds to other important works inaugurated by President Abinader during the day of this Saturday, such as the Educational Center León Romilio Rodríguez Ventura and five water and sanitation works, consolidating an investment that impacts all axes of social well-being: education, water health, industry and commerce.
With the commissioning of this distribution center, the Dominican Government reaffirms its commitment to the economic reactivation of the southern provinces, facilitating that local producers have a worthy point of sale that reduces post-harvest losses and strengthens the regional supply chain.
