Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) began this Monday a national training session for all levels, modalities, and educational subsystems, as part of the preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, scheduled for next August 24th, when more than 2 million students will return to the classrooms.
The event, which will take place under the motto “Education that inspires and transforms”, will be led by 11,098 teacher trainers, who were previously trained to conduct this process in the country’s educational centers.
The Ministry pointed out that the motto places the role of the teacher at the center of the day as a driver of learning and an agent of transformation in the classrooms. In that sense, the training seeks to strengthen knowledge, practices, and pedagogical tools to generate better learning opportunities for students.
During the training process, topics such as planning through didactic sequences, assessment by competencies and the use of their results for the improvement of learning will be addressed, as well as the use of active technologies in the classroom, among other contents aimed at strengthening teaching practice.
The initiative is part of the efforts promoted by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to ensure that the educational system meets the optimal conditions to receive students and develop teaching and learning processes from the first day of classes.
For the Minerd, teacher training constitutes one of the central components of these preparations, by allowing educators to update their knowledge and strengthen the tools they will use during the new school year.

The Ministry of Education pointed out that the participation of thousands of educators across the country will allow for the sharing of new tools and approaches for teaching, while preparing teaching teams for the challenges and opportunities posed by the upcoming school year.

Teacher training will be developed in parallel with other actions executed by Minerd as part of the preparations for the next school year, with interventions aimed at both pedagogical strengthening and the adaptation of conditions in educational centers.
These tasks include the provision of educational materials and resources to schools, the expansion and adaptation of infrastructure, as well as other actions aimed at guaranteeing the physical and pedagogical conditions necessary to receive students.
