Barahona.— The Single-Judge Court of the Court of First Instance of the Judicial District of Barahona sentenced a woman to three years in prison for defrauding several teachers who participated in the 2023 teaching opposition contest, to whom she promised to manage their appointments at the Ministry of Education (Minerd).
The sentence was handed down by Judge Santa Kenia Pérez Féliz, at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, against Ana Minerva Terrero Sánchez, who must serve the sentence at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center of Baní, Peravia province.

According to the indictment, Terrero Sánchez allegedly requested and received money from teachers under the promise of managing their appointments in the public education system, taking advantage of the expectations of the participants in the teacher opposition contest.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the convicted person to pay RD$500,000 in compensation to one of the victims and to return another RD$880,000, corresponding to the money she had allegedly received fraudulently.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office presented the evidence that supported the accusation and requested that the court impose the corresponding sanction for the acts attributed to the defendant.
