The National Police Retirement Committee commemorated this Thursday the 22nd anniversary of its creation with a solemn ceremony held at the Evangelizing Media Parish of San Antonio de Padua, highlighting more than two decades of work dedicated to the well-being of retired police members.
The act was led by General Juan Hilario Guzmán Badia, Deputy Director General of the National Police, representing Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta, Director General of the institution. He was accompanied by General Julio C. Betances Hernández, head of the Retirement Committee; Mrs. Ingrid Castro de Guzmán, president of the Association of Wives of National Police Officers (Aseopna), and Colonel Carlos Martínez Martínez, deputy director of the Committee.

Also present were Major General Celin Rubio Terrero, ERD, commander of the Southern Joint Command and director of the Reserve; General (r) Hilario de la Cruz González González; General (r) Juana Camilo Santana, director of the Institute of Retired Generals of the National Police (IGREPOL), as well as general, senior and junior officers.
Protection and dignity for pensioners
For over two decades, the Retirement Committee has played a fundamental role in the administration and management of the benefits corresponding to the members of the National Police who have completed their active service, establishing itself as an essential pillar of the police social security system.
During his intervention, General Betances Hernández highlighted the achievements of the department, underlining its commitment to administrative transparency and personalized attention to pensioners and their families.
“Twenty-two years of experience represent a legacy of continuous service to those who gave their best to the police institution,” said the high-ranking officer.
Likewise, he highlighted the technological and procedural advances implemented to expedite the withdrawal processes and improve the quality of service, which has significantly reduced response times and optimized the delivery of benefits.
Throughout its history, the Retirement Committee has processed thousands of files, ensuring that retired agents and their families promptly receive the benefits to which they are entitled, thereby strengthening institutional trust and the sense of belonging.
The ceremony concluded with a call to continue strengthening the social protection mechanisms for police officers, reaffirming the institutional commitment to those who dedicated their professional lives to the service of the homeland.
During the event, six police and assimilated members, active and retired, were recognized for their valuable services and contributions to the law enforcement institution.
