National Police highlights progress and patriotic commitment in Independence Day parade

The National Police played a leading role in the military and police parade held on February 27th on the occasion of the 182nd anniversary of National Independence, reaffirming its commitment to the defense of the homeland and citizen security. The act was led by President Luis Abinader, in his capacity as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and the National Police, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful; and Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, Director General of the law enforcement institution. Also present were the general commanders of the different military branches and members of the high military command.

During the day, hundreds of police officers marched with martiality before authorities and citizens who gathered to witness the traditional patriotic event. The institution showed part of the advances it promotes within its transformation process, focused on professionalization, modernization and operational strengthening. Among the participating units were specialized tactical teams such as SWAT, Boina Gris and Contramotines, as well as cadets in training, members of the Preventive Police and special forces. The parade also presented the new institutional uniform in its different modalities, as a symbol of internal renewal. Similarly, agencies such as the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM), the Intelligence Directorate (DINTEL), and the New Public Police Service Model participated, highlighting the strategic focus towards a labor closer to the community and based on modern standards. The National Police Band accompanied the parade with patriotic marches, while the closing was in charge of the Lince motorized unit, whose demonstration of coordination and speed aroused the enthusiasm of the public.

Upon concluding the parade, the Director General of the National Police moved with the agents to the Juan Pablo Duarte Educational Plaza, headquarters of the Higher Education Police Institute (IPES), where he congratulated the troops for their performance. In his speech, he highlighted the discipline and team spirit demonstrated during the activity, and urged the members of the institution to continue working with honor, commitment, and a vocation for service in favor of the security and well-being of the nation.
