Retired sergeant arrested for transporting Haitian immigrants in San Juan de la Maguana

San Juan de la Maguana. – A patrol of the Dominican Republic Army detained a retired sergeant major of the ERD for illegally transporting three Haitian nationals in an irregular migratory condition in San Juan de la Maguana. The detainee, identified as Cristiano Roa Roa, was traveling on a Z3000 motorcycle, with undocumented migrants and was intercepted by members of the ERD at the La Jagua river crossing, an area that borders the municipality of El Llano and the El Naranjo community, of the Municipal District of Matayaya.

According to the testimony offered by undocumented foreigners, Roa would transport them from the province of Elías Piña to the Municipal District of Pedro Corto, in the province of San Juan de la Maguana. The detainee was transferred under custody, along with the motorcycle and the three foreigners, to the Fortaleza General Pedro Florentino of the E.R.D., for the corresponding procedures in accordance with the Law.
