Superintendency of Insurance promotes gender equality as a permanent institutional commitment

Workshop coordinated with the Ministry of Women strengthens the inclusive approach that will guarantee progress in terms of equity of rights. Santo Domingo.– The Superintendent of Insurance, Julio César Valentín, instructed the institution’s directors to adopt the gender equity approach as “a permanent act of commitment”, aimed at overcoming barriers to equal rights, promoting equal opportunities and contributing to closing gaps in the work environment. This is how he expressed it during the Gender Mainstreaming Committee Induction Workshop, held in coordination with the Ministry of Women, in which the foundations were laid to facilitate the institutional processes associated with the integration of protection, inclusion, and equity policies.

“No puede haber estabilidad económica, social y política si no se superan las barreras que impiden mayores niveles de igualdad. La creación de la Unidad de Género no solo forma parte de una política pública gubernamental, ni es una obligación ni un acto ordinario. Nosotros aspiramos a que sea un ejercicio permanente de conciencia, un acto de fe y de compromiso”,

recalcó Valentín.
For her part, the head of Gender Equality of the SIS, Yazmín Vicente, valued the creation of the Gender Equality Unit (UIG) and its Committee as a decisive step to “foster a more inclusive institutional culture, promote a healthy, equitable environment with a true practical sense of humanity“.
