Valverde.– Eighteen agricultural producers from the Northern region received bonus certificates totaling more than RD$15,000,000, granted by the Executive Directorate of National Irrigation Technification (TNR), through the Fund for the Promotion of the National Irrigation System Technification (Fotesir), as part of the call initiated last January.
During the handover ceremony, the director of the TNR, Claudio Caamaño Vélez, highlighted that this initiative represents a significant step forward in the modernization process of national agriculture.

“This delivery not only formally recognizes the beneficiary producers, but also constitutes a decisive step towards the modernization of irrigation in the area, so that it is more profitable, sustainable and competitive,” expressed Caamaño Vélez.
The official pointed out that the modernization of irrigation contributes to optimizing the use of water resources, increasing crop productivity, and strengthening the agricultural sector’s resilience to the challenges associated with climate change.
The Fotesir calls and the Bagri-Riego program, an initiative developed in conjunction with the Agricultural Bank (Bagrícola), have made it possible to reduce the installation costs of irrigation systems by more than half and speed up project execution times for the beneficiary producers.
The bonuses granted will allow farmers to incorporate advanced irrigation technologies, optimize water use, reduce production costs, and increase the competitiveness of their agricultural holdings. It also includes specialized technical assistance, ongoing support, and training processes aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the investments made.
With this sixth bonus, the number of non-refundable bonus certificates granted to producers in the provinces of San Juan (30), Azua (36), Bahoruco, and Independencia (17) totals 108.
