Santo Domingo.- The significance of the projects awarded in the Brugal Believes in Its People Awards is valued in the short documentary “The Power of Believing”, which gathers inspiring testimonies from the protagonists and shows the scope of their impact.

The piece features the voice of the renowned Freddy Ginebra, founder of the Brugal Cree en su Gente Awards, and direction by filmmaker Oliver Olivo, who shared with De Último Minuto what he sought to capture in people beyond their testimonies, what he would like the audience not to forget after seeing “El poder de creer” and what this experience leaves him as a filmmaker.

About the short documentary “The Power of Believing”

“The power of belief” is a short documentary produced by the Brugal Foundation and directed by the young Dominican filmmaker Oliver Olivo, which was created with a clear purpose: to make visible what often happens in silence.

Through a close and honest cinematographic language, the documentary highlights the work of the solidarity recognized by the Brugal Cree en su Gente Awards: ITESIL and FUNDEMAR. It is not limited to recounting what they do, but rather, through the institutions’ own voice, it shows how they do it, the impact they generate, and why they persist, even in adverse conditions. Herein lies its value: to transform concrete stories into benchmarks. To give face, voice, context, and depth to realities, to solidarity and initiatives that are already generating real changes from education and the environment. Because when those stories become visible they cease to be isolated cases and become examples. And the example, well told, has a unique capacity: it inspires, engages, and moves to action. More than a short documentary, this is an invitation. An invitation to look closely, to recognize and, above all, to believe.
