The artist would have turned 73 years old last June 21st
SANTO DOMINGO.- In a joint effort between Funeraria Blandino, Radio Bizarro, the Puerta del Cielo Cemetery and the family of the legendary Dominican musician and composer Luis “El Terror” Días, the remains of the artist were transferred on Saturday, June 21, the date on which he would have turned 73 years old.
“Thank you for loving my father. God bless you. My father’s memory will never be forgotten. His legacy will always be exposed and remembered. He is at peace here, I feel it. He has always been fine, but he would be better. I love you daddy”, said Mari Díaz, the artist’s daughter.
Colleagues and friends from El Terror, such as José Duluc, Luis Méndez Peña, and Irka Mateo, sang different pieces in honor of his memory, including “Suite Folclórica” and “En tu día Madre”.

After a brief ceremony highlighting the artist’s work, his remains were moved to their final resting place in the heritage cemetery.
It is noteworthy that, in October 2024, Radio Bizarro published a report visiting the tomb of Luis Días, where his remains had rested for more than 15 years. The video, widely shared on social media, provoked strong reactions among artists and public figures. The singer Sergio Vargas wrote on his social media: “Honor to whom honor is due. One of the most renowned folklorists of our country… your legacy will not die, Luis Días. Fly high, TERROR!”. Other artists also expressed their sorrow for the conditions in which his former dwelling was found, which prompted an institutional response.
Subsequently, executives from Funeraria Blandino proposed to cover all the expenses of exhumation, cremation, and transfer so that the remains of Luis Días could be buried in the Puerta del Cielo Cemetery, who in turn donated the columbarium where the remains of Luis Terror Días now rest. This heritage cemetery is recognized as a space of memory and honor for great figures of national life. Personalities such as Ruby Perez, Freddy Beras Goico, Yaqui Núñez del Risco, Carlos Piantini, Antonio Imbert Barreras, Socorro Castellanos, among others, also rest there.
Chris Calderón, artist and communicator, representing Radio Bizarro, highlighted “for us it is a huge honor to be part of the history of a transcendental figure in Dominican music. None of this would have been possible without the support of our listeners and their power of repercussion and transformation.”
In turn, Dominican folklorist Irka Mateo paid tribute, stating that “we played together and did research together. Luis deserved to be in a dignified place for his memory and to have a dignified rest. Besides everything, he was a person who exceeded his contribution. He left us so much and so much that the current generations continue to study what he left.”
Also, the prominent folklorist and composer José Duluc, a close friend of Luis Díaz, maintained that many young people are currently drawing from El Terror’s contributions to Dominican music and culture, so it is important to continue his legacy and preserve his memory.
The Puerta del Cielo Cemetery Park offers guided tours for its visitors in order to remember, disseminate, and preserve the historical legacy of the great Dominican personalities who rest there.
