José Hoepelman criticizes stance against La Casa de Alofoke after the Happy Marriage Movement requested the Ministry of Culture to evaluate the content of the program for alleged “anti-values” that could affect children and young people.
The jurist’s reaction came after learning that the organization, led by César Curiel de Moya, sent a communication to Culture and the National Commission of Public Shows asking to intervene in the digital format.

Martínez Hoepelman calificó the request as “deeply regressive” and “unconstitutional”. He assured that this type of action seeks to curb a popular and cultural expression of Dominican society, which, in his opinion, could generate greater social fragmentation.
The lawyer maintained that “La Casa de Alofoke” authentically represents Dominican society, characterized by being diverse, spontaneous, and plural. He highlighted that the space promotes values such as empathy, respect, and coexistence among different social sectors.
Call for national unity
Hoepelman stated that those who do not share the project’s line can develop their own content on open platforms like YouTube. “If they do not agree with what is promoted there, they can follow the path that Santiago has already opened and present their proposals,” he said.
The jurist urged to avoid internal divisions at a time when, according to him, there are tensions over migratory issues. He insisted that there should be no ruptures between religious groups or social sectors, recalling that “we are all Dominicans, as varied as society itself.”
