Santo Domingo, RD – Judge Clara Luz Almonte, of the Second Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the National District, sentenced communicator Tamara Martínez to three months in prison this Wednesday, after finding her guilty of defamation and insult to the detriment of presenter Gabi Desangles. The sentence must be served at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) Najayo-Mujeres.
Among the elements valued by the court were videos spread on social media, witness testimonies, and technological expert reports carried out by members of the National Police assigned to cybernetic investigation units.
The sentence handed down by Judge Clara Luz Almonte will be read in full on June 18, 2026, 9:00 AM.

The hearing was held at 10:00 a.m. this Wednesday in the courtroom of the Second Chamber of the Criminal Court of the Court of First Instance of the National District, located in the Palace of Justice of Ciudad Nueva. The legal representatives of Gabi, Ángel Leonel Cano, Nelson Burgos and Paola DiazGil, indicated that they hoped the judge would issue a decision on the case that would remedy the damages caused to their client. “We hope to produce our final conclusions and arguments so that the judge is informed and can make a decision and issue a sentence,” he explained. When referring to the accused’s stance during the trial, lawyer Ángel Leonel Cano stated in a conversation with Último Minuto that she has shown an evasive attitude regarding the accusations presented.
