Wendy Queliz presents “Living Nativity 2026” at Iberoamérica Park

The Wendy Queliz Theater Studio will present a new edition of “Living Nativity Santo Domingo 2026,” a theatrical proposal that seeks to rescue the spiritual meaning of Christmas through an immersive representation of the story of the birth of Jesus.
The show will be set in the Santa Ana Cave of Iberoamérica Park, where the public will be able to tour different spaces designed to recreate biblical places such as Nazareth, Ain Karim, and Bethlehem.
The production director, teacher Wendy Queliz, expressed her enthusiasm for returning with this proposal, following the reception received by the previous edition, whose attendance exceeded expectations and forced the opening of additional spaces to accommodate the spectators.
“Last year was a complete success, we literally had people sitting on the floor, and this year we are returning right here, to this magical space where we can recreate Nazareth, Ein Karem, and Bethlehem, and be able to convey the true meaning of Christmas, which is the birth of Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us,” stated Queliz.
A cast prepared to recreate the biblical story
The director explained that this new edition will feature a cast of talents selected to offer a quality performance, in which viewers can connect with the characters and experience the events of the biblical story up close.
Queliz pointed out that one of the biggest challenges of the production was assembling the cast, due to his interest in bringing together actors with the necessary preparation and stage presence to convey the essence of each character.

“Finding the cast has been the most challenging moment of the production, because we wanted a quality cast, a cast that would make the stage power felt when people arrive, feel the characters, and be able to live the story from the scenic truth,” he maintained.
Anelly Paredes returns to play María
For the second consecutive year, actress Anelly Paredes will take on the role of Mary, mother of Jesus, a performance that, as she explained, has represented an experience of personal and spiritual growth.

The actress stated that bringing this character to life has allowed her to delve deeper into Mary’s story and learn more about her faith, strength, and trust.
“I feel very good playing Mary, a woman full of faith, it fills me with satisfaction. I was able to truly know who the mother of Jesus is, a woman who never doubted,” expressed Paredes.
Likewise, he considered that the play represents an opportunity for families to reflect on Christian traditions and remember that Christmas transcends gifts and material celebrations.
“It is a transformative experience for every family, because each person can arrive and live that era. They will be able to experience the true meaning of Christmas, not just gifts and banal matters, but what the birth of baby Jesus really is, the belief and the traditional values of the family,” he noted.
Paredes also shared that playing Maria has influenced her own spirituality and her approach to the Catholic faith.
“Sometimes one doubts quite a bit in day-to-day life and thanks to Mary I have learned a lot about faith,” he commented.
Regarding the preparations, he/she indicated that one of the main challenges has been vocal preparation, due to the long days of rehearsals and recordings. However, he/she highlighted the integration and mutual support among the cast members.
A theatrical and interactive experience for the whole family
“Living Nativity Santo Domingo 2026” will offer an itinerant and interactive experience, in which attendees will be able to move through different settings that will recreate the places related to the birth of Jesus.
The production will incorporate setting elements and real animals, including a donkey that will carry Mary, horses, and other animals, as well as scenes with King Herod and his soldiers.
The purpose is to transport viewers to the biblical era and allow them to experience the story through a proposal that combines theater, scenography, and historical recreation.

The cast will be composed of Anelly Paredes as María; Jaime Contreras in the role of José; as well as Juan Luis Espinal, Carlos Naveo, Carla Morel, and other talents who will participate in the performance.
